TWIC: Transportation Worker Identification Credential

What is TWIC?

TWIC—the Transportation Worker Identification Credential—is a common identification credential for all personnel requiring unescorted access to secure/restricted areas of Maritime Transportation Security Administration (MTSA)–regulated facilities and vessels, and all mariners holding Coast Guard–issued credentials.

TSA will issue workers a tamper-resistant “smart card” containing the worker’s biometric (fingerprint template) to allow for a positive link between the card itself and the individual.

For information on the TWIC and to apply, please visit www.tsa.gov/twic

The Lake Charles Harbor & Terminal District’s TWIC policy can be found under Item No. 404, page 26, of the Port’s Tariff.
