The Port of Lake Charles is seeking candidates for the position of Police Officer for its Harbor Police Department. This is a full-time state Civil Service position which includes benefits.
Applicants must possess a score for the Civil Service 9500-LEAPS Test to be considered for hiring – no exemptions. The position is in a Career Progression Group and may be filled at the entry, second or third level (Police Officer 1-A, 2-A or 3-A), depending upon experience. Testing locations and times, required experience and qualifications, and minimum salary information for each level may be accessed on the Civil Service website listed below.
A TWIC card is required to work on Port premises. A current P.O.S.T certification is preferred. Candidates should possess good writing and interpersonal skills, the ability to understand written and verbal instructions, and possess basic computer knowledge.
Physical abilities such as standing, stooping, bending, walking, running, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting 30 pounds or more, work outdoors in all types of weather and work around waterfront are required in order to fulfill the duties of this position.
